Roger’s Raiders run riot as B’s dominate Coundon

Year 7 Rugby – Southam B 40 Coundon 5

It was a fantastic game and one I was proud to officiate in. Coundon tackled their hearts out, but Southam were too strong in both running and securing of the ball. Captain Patrick Fitzgerald ,( who later swapped and helped the opposition), ran in two early tries. He finished with a hat trick! This was set up by great link play with the forwards and smooth passing from Caruana at fly half. Adam Mullen’s showed real intelligence on the ball not only scoring two tries but also setting and securing the ball for the backs. Charlie Parson’s won ball against the head in the scrum and the likes of Farrell, Beck, Symonds and George Hind ,(also a try scorer), worked the ball well on the field. Aaron Jones tackled well on the wing and Rowan Malhi grew in confidence with some excellent runs. Sam Alexander was a strong and elusive centre , producing two great tries. The pick of the match was one from George Hind. Adam Mullens skipped inside to link with his backs from a forwards surge and the ball was kept alive by Alexander and the backs for George to go over. Excellent showcasing of keeping the ball out of contact! Bale also involved himself fully in the second half with some pleasing tackles that restricted the opposition to one try.
The man of the match does not, however, go to a try scorer but to a hard working and aggressive Josh Rogers. He secured the ball, hit rucks with power and a lack of hesitation. He tackled like a man possessed. Take this performance forward into the A squad fixtures!
Well done to all the boys involved.
Mr Elkerton
