Netball Tournament

Two Year 7 teams went to North Leamington tournament this evening. The teams split into green and black and were in separate pools.

The blacks – consisting of, Rose Hill, Katy Black, Issie Fairhurst, Sarah Costa, Grace Broomhead, Ellie Cumbebatch and Charlotte Wain started their bid off positively with a 1-0 win against Kingsley. However this was a close match and the team knew they needed to up their game for the following matches. Campion school kept them on their toes and pushed the defence to work hard and intercept passes. In the end, a 4-1 win which was well deserved. Winning the pool meant playing Myton in the semi-final! A game that was tough in both attack and defence, stretching all players! A lovely feed from Sarah Costa to Ellie Culberbatch and then Charlotte Wain allowed Charlotte to score just as the final whistle went, leaving the game 3-2 to Southam and a place in the final!!

The green team consisted of Alex Lyle, Niamh Purnell, Erin Powell, Erin Jones, Savannah Spliman-Penn, Olivia Constable and Phoebe Town. They started their pool against Campion and won 4-0 – a great start!! The second game was against North Leamington and although a tougher game a 3-1 win put them in with a chance of the semi final! The final game of the pool was against Myton and a 3-2 win put them in the semi final against Kingsley!! The match was a fair and equal match but Alex Lyle and Niamh Purnell shot incredibly and helped the team win 5-1, putting them in the final!!

The final match Southam Green v Southam Black…you can ask the girls who won, but Southam did win!

Well played all round, Miss MacLachlan and Miss Leng
