YEAR 8 RUGBY – MATCH REPORT

Southam V Coundon Court

Southam started with a bang, with a brilliant try by Charlie Knight, it all started by a good solid ruck by the forwards (who have been very impressive this season), then good work of fluent passing by James and myself to set up Charlie in the corner. Ben Robinson who made brilliant solid tackles throughout the game, which lead to another try by Charlie Knight, in the corner which he broke through numerous tackles to get over the line.

By this time we had more confidence with ourselves so more people got stuck in including the two man of the matches Max and Joe Washbrooke, they used there pace to get around the defence to then offload it to Charlie Knight who went over for a hat-rick, just at the reach of halftime.
In the second half we came in to the match far too played back which let Coundon  mess us around, which we deserved, but after a massive heads up from Mr Elkerton, we came back again with a bang and the forwards did there jobs perfectly. Josh Poulton lead the pack perfectly with Josh Lee, which caused Coundon some harm, so Poulton ran at them to score the try. From then on we slowly began to get back up to the standards just like last week, in the last 10 minutes James Philips, Joe Waskbrooke and myself did a brilliant backs move which set up James right under the post.
Well done lads brilliant performance, but still things to improve on, to get back up to the standards against Campion last week.  Congratulations to Joe and Max Washbrooke who got man of the match.

Well done boys – A big pitch used well. More organised than your counterparts and excellent handling. Forwards when you put your mind to it you can out ruck most teams. Keep it up. Mr Elkerton.

Tournament on next Tuesday to look at some new faces before Princethorpe Thursday.
