Year 10 Rugby

Southam v Westwood Academy

Unfortunately for the Yr10 Rugby team, another tale of a spirited performance, but let down by some withdrawals of other squad members. Against a quick and powerful Westwood team, and with a few players offered to boast our numbers, we showed great teamwork and perseverance. We had the greater skill in our forward pack and Rugby intelligence, but struggled when the ball become loose and leaked tries on the wing. The teams traded tries in the first half, with Joe C scoring a great individual try and Josh L. powering through the Westwood pack to force himself over line. However, as the rain drove in across the Earlsdon pitch we conceded 3 more tries in the second half, as our numbers were reduced by the withdrawal of a couple of their players. There were notable performances throughout our numbers, from Luke C. at the break down, Patrick F and Charlie P through the centre and ever present Washbrooks, and we competed as a team to the end. Final score 33-10, but well done to everyone who competed with such character.
