Southam run out of steam against Princethorpe
The Year 10 Football came up short in their match this evening against Princethrope. Despite scoring first (Lennon C.), we didn’t adapt well to the strong head-wind in the first half and conceded 5 goals. An excellently taken 2nd was scored by Cameron P just before the break to give us some hope and momentum for the second period.
With the wind now in our backs, we pressed high and quickly started to dominate creating a string of chances and scoring 2 more (Cameron P & Olli U.). Looking as if we would be able to go on to take the game, we started to tire towards the end of the game, and their quick and skilful midfield always threatened. With the clock ticking down, they managed to finish a well worked move to final put the game out of our reach and the game finished 4-6 to Princethorpe.
It was a disappointing end to the game, but one that we only had ourselves to blame for the sloppy goals conceded in the first half. The fight back in the second half, did show promise and we will need all of that in our next game against North Leamington on Thursday.
